The Buzz about Manhattan Violin School

"Jill Good has been teaching our seven-year-old daughter, Carys Zeta, for close to a year. Not only is Jill a fantastic violin teacher, but her sense of fun and enthusiasm with such a young student makes every lesson a joy for our daughter.

We could not recommend Jill so highly without first hand seeing the fruits of her exceptional talent."

"Ms. Jill Good is a wonderful teacher. She is enthusiastic about music and very patient with my 6-year daughter, which are, I feel, the main key points when it comes to teaching young children. Also, she makes learning violin so much fun and challenging at the right level for my daughter. My daughter and I always look forward to our next lesson. It has been a musically (and in many other ways as well) enriching experience for both of us and I would like to have her as my daughter’s teacher for a long time to come. I highly recommend Ms. Good!"

"When our son expressed an early interest in playing violin, we had the good fortune of finding Jill Good.  Jill is both very professional and very compassionate.  She is extremely patient with our son and strives to develop fun ways to engage him.  Jill works with her students at their level and tailors the session to the learner's needs. She is both a terrific musician and person.  We think Jill is wonderful!"

"We have been delighted at how much progress our two young daughters (6 and 4) have made with the violin under the guidance of the Manhattan Violin School.  The teachers of the School are very good with children, and in each lesson they gently engage their students’ attention on the music and on learning new techniques.  The result is that every student is focused and makes real progress every week.

We have found that the Suzuki method of learning has worked very well for our daughters.  Both our six year old and our four year old can now play several different songs of graded difficulty, and they take real pride in their accomplishments.   Both of them love their lessons and the music."

"Jill teaches with patience and laughter. What a powerful combination to bring the love of violin into my sons' lives."

"The children in my Montessori toddler program have been delighted with the teachers from Manhattan Violin School.  The Suzuki method dovetails beautifully with Montessori, and teachers guide the students' exploration with structured freedom and respect for each child's process.  Ms. Good grooms her faculty to guide the child's journey, yet nurture the student's own joy of learning.  Along the way, our children organically experience  pride of accomplishment and growth in concentration, coordination, self esteem, discipline, family-based learning, and skill building.  I am happy to recommend the Manhattan Violin School to both Montessori and non-Montessori students and their families!"

Dear Jill,

I wanted to tell you know how pleased I am with Emma’s progress. I can’t believe that only after a handful of lessons she can play several melodies rather well.

You make the lessons so much fun for her - she can hardly wait for the next one! This is very unusual for any five-year old but especially for Emma who gets bored quickly and always seeks a new thrill.

Thank you for your guidance and support in designing a customized program that works for Emma and for instilling love for the violin in her. The game you created for her makes practice a breeze! You not only have a great approach to motivating her but also an unbelievable patience.

We are very lucky to have found your wonderful school and look forward to working with you in years to come.

Sincerely,

Daniela Iankova

Dear Ms. Good,

I would like to thank the Manhattan Violin School for the opportunity to study and learn in such a stimulating and rewarding environment. I would like to personally thank you, Ms. Good, for your kindness and also your incredible perception in determining and personally planning the sessions that responded to my needs as an educator.

Musically yours,

"It takes a lot of patience to teach a 3 year old... luckily Miss Jill has an unlimited supply tucked away in her violin case! It did not take long for our daughter to feel comfortable with Jill. She is warm and nurturing and knows how to stretch out a toddler's concentration, which was not much when we first started her violin lessons. Now Chang Min manages to maintain her focus and thoroughly enjoys her weekly visits from Jill.

Jill's experience with children is clearly exemplified by her teaching
techniques which are appropriate to the development of a young child. She
provides tools and props to provide age appropriate guidance and is always
thinking of new and different ways to keep the child interested, while
maintaining the traditional elements of the instrument.

We feel very fortunate to have come upon Jill for our daughter and are
confident that she will bring joy to many other families and children
through her teaching."
